VARIÉTÉ BODYBUILDERS

An authentic display of inappropriate shyness (dir. Jetse Batelaan)

Good evening. Welcome to Variété Bodybuilders. We’ve rehearsed a number of scenes with nine kick boxers from Rotterdam Zuid. It’s a bit difficult to explain what it's about. It’s also with bakers, as well as themselves. They come on stage. And then they do something. They perform all sorts of things actually. Also, it’s usually at this point that someone says that it’s beautiful and touching, but you never know how it’s going to go. So just come and watch. Enjoy!

MOTHERS

New praise at Interferences Festival Romania

Quote from the Romanian press on Alize Zandwijk's long-standing production:

"Mothers pushes the envelope of theatre. These wonderful women open up in front of us strangers. And we just watch amazed, since they are not professional actors, yet they are able to make out a production out of „nothing”, which includes all our senses into the play." (Hamlet - Romania)

The tremendous Istanbul experience closed off a splendid year for Branden, after being selected for the Dutch Theatre Festival 2010. Moreover,

the production peaked at the top 5 2009/2010 in the theatre journal TM : "Family epic about civil war is a gripping and convincing appeal to the imagination as a source of compassion.
